Chicago Bulls' McDermott and Snell Named To All-Summer League First Team

The Chicago Bulls are "recovering" nicely from the rejection of not landing their top free agent target of the summer, Carmelo Anthony.

The Chicago Bulls are "recovering" nicely from the rejection of not landing their top free agent target of the summer, Carmelo Anthony. The Chicago Bulls have not only reloaded with 4-time All-Star and 2-time NBA Champion Pau Gasol and former Spanish League MVP Nikola Mirotic, but it seems that the Chicago Bulls have two more budding contributors in last year's first round draft pick, Tony Snell, and this year's first round draft pick, Doug McDermott. The two provided a potent one-two punch for the top seeded Chicago Bulls summer league squad that lost to the eventual summer league champs, the Sacramento Kings, when McDermott was held out of their first round "playoff" game. In the loss, Tony Snell continued his steady play, and he lead the team with 20 points, 3 rebs, and 3 ast in the loss. Over the 5 games of summer league play, Snell has averaged 20 PPG, 4 RPG, and 2.8 APG while shooting a ridiculous 50% from 3-point range. And his running mate, "Dougie McBuckets" hasn't been too shabby either. In the four games he played, McDermott averaged 18 PPG, 4 RPG, and 2.8 APG while hitting 44% from range. Those numbers put both Snell and McDermott on the All-Summer League First Team, as well as, two of the top 3 most impressive player in Summer League, as voted by other players and reported by USA Today. Doug McDermott's trophy case is getting full with all the accolades the rookie has earned even before the NBA season starts. He has been voted for an 2014 ESPY Awards for Best Male College Athlete of the Year. And he has most recently been invited to play on the USA Basketball Select Team, along with fellow Chicago Bull, Jimmy Butler. And hopefully, he can cap this coming season with an NBA Championship that has been so long in returning to the city of Chicago. If you BULL-ieve, tell us what you think in the comments below!
